blazer_fund_longThe Blazer Family Fund (BFF) was established in 2015 to assist parish families who experience extraordinary hardship due to some kind of mishap or or catastrophic event. Funds are dispersed as needed at the pastor’s discretion.

The Blazer Family Fund is funded in three main ways:

  1. Trivia Night.  Periodic fundraisers sponsored by HASA, the Home and School Association.  These fun evenings involve putting a team of 8-10 people together to answer multiple rounds of trivia questions, all vying for the coveted Trivia Night Trophy and a small cash prize. Team members bring snacks to share. Beer, wine, soft drinks and water are available during the festivities.  These fundraisers usually last about three hours and raise $3,000-$6,000. This is a great start, but it’s not enough to meet the needs of our friends in need.
  2. ndfcu-elevate“ELEVATE”. The Notre Dame Federal Credit Union “Elevate” program gives parishioners the ability to contribute to the fund without writing a check. Whenever you are in the market for a car loan, student loan, business loan or credit card, be sure to shop and compare the rates available through St. Matt’s dedicated page on If Notre Dame FCU is able to serve your needs, then they will send a generous percentage of their revenue to St. Matthew Cathedral for the Blazer Family Fund. This is a way to support the fund by saving money on financial products – what’s not to like?
  3. Direct donations. Just make the check out to “St. Matthew Cathedral” and be sure to include a note directing the money to the “Blazer Family Fund.” It is recommended also to write “Blazer Family Fund” on the memo line of the check. Send it to the rectory or pop it in the collection basket on Sunday.
