A Little About Us
Father Terry Fisher
Pastor & Rector
I am from South Bend. I graduated from Holy Cross grade school and Saint Joseph High School. I taught at the Cathedral School for ten years and then went to Mount St. Mary’s Seminary. I was ordained a priest in 1985.
My mother’s home made Lasagna is my favorite food!
If I could go any place, I would go to New York or Ireland.
I am a religious sister with the Sisters of St. Francis of Perpetual
Adoration in Mishawaka. I grew up on the West Coast and in the Midwest with both of my parents, 4 brothers, and 1 sister. I grew up loving sports, especially soccer and basketball. I am grateful to God for His Love and Generosity in my life. I thank HIM everyday for my vocation, my family, and for calling me to serve HIM here at the Cathedral School of Saint Matthew. My favorite part of being a principal is working with our great staff and serving our parents and students..
I was born in Orlando, FL and went to Catholic schools all my life. When I left for the University of Notre Dame, I had never seen more than one inch of snow on the ground. After 17 years at Notre Dame (B.A., M.A., and Ph.D.), I became very familiar with more than one foot of snow on the ground every winter. I love interacting with students from Pre-K through eighth grade here at the Cathedral School.
My favorite things to do are hiking, watching movies, cooking and baking, and playing games or sports (e.g., tennis, bowling, putt-putt golf, and frisbee) with my kids. I like pretty much every kind of food, but especially Southern-Style food, as you would find at Cracker Barrel.
On my outlandish "bucket list" for vacation I would like to watch the O'Henry Competition in Austin, TX, or visit the Punderdome in New York just one time in my life. For my more realistic dream vacation, however, I would be thrilled to go hiking in Tennessee with my family.
I am from the South Bend area, growing up in Osceola and attending Queen of Peace Church (they didn’t have a school when I was a kid). I graduated from Penn High School and Ball State University. My husband, TJ, and I have four children. The older three have all graduated from the Cathedral School and are now in high school and college. Our youngest, Ryan, is in 4th grade at the Cathedral School.
Some of my favorite things are going to Lake Michigan to watch the sunset, having Sunday breakfast with my extended family, watching my kids play sports, play their instruments, sing in the choir and act in plays. I also love Mexican food, Chicago hot dogs and almost any kind of dessert – cookies are my favorite.
I enjoy vacationing with my husband and kids and would love to take a trip to Rome, Italy with them some day.
My name is Joshua O’Brien. I was born and raised in South Bend, Indiana. I grew up on the corner of Angela boulevard and Notre Dame Avenue where I developed a love for Our Lady’s University. Some of my earliest memories consisted of watching Saturday morning cartoons with one eye, while the other watched the streams of one way traffic. My older brother Jamie and I learned to throw footballs in our front yard with these passersby. South Quad is the”park” that my mother would take us, and Law School chili was my Father’s attempt at a home cooked meal.
I have two brilliant younger sisters, and I love to make stir fry for them (even if one is a vegetarian and the other is picky). In my free time I enjoy reading a good book in my freshly weeded garden and playing the guitar for my wife.
I ran Cross Country and Track at Saint Joseph’s High School before moving on to Notre Dame. I graduated in 2012 with my BA in English and Russian. While at Notre Dame I studied abroad in Saint Petersburg, Russia, and I plan on returning there next summer for the World Cup!
This is my third year at the Cathedral School, and I am grateful everyday for my supportive and persistent colleagues and my bright and (usually) funny students.
This is my 22nd year at the Cathedral School! How time does fly! I have taught first grade, kindergarten, and now third grade. Which is the most exciting? Hard to say!
I have two children of my own – Torie Collins who is now 30 and married, and Drew who is 27 and also married! – as well as assorted cats, dogs, and fish. I also have three amazing (biased I know) grandchildren – I’m so excited as both my grandchildren will be attending St. Matthew Kindergarten for the 2018-2019 school year – Grandma will get to see them every day!
I’m looking forward to a wonderful year with your children. Thank you for entrusting them to our care.
I was born and raised in South Bend, Indiana. I attended St. Adalbert from K-8, Washington High School, and Saint Mary’s College. My husband and I have 5 children, four of them attend the Cathedral School, our oldest has graduated and now attends Marian High School. I enjoy reading, playing volleyball, and spending time with my family. I really enjoy trying different foods, though I can’t handle spicy very well.
My dream meal would be fresh sushi, a good salad, and fresh baked chocolate chip cookies.
If I could go anywhere, I would go to Hawaii and enjoy the sand and sun.
My hometown is South Bend. I was born here. I went to Saint Joseph High School and the University of Notre Dame. Hometown girl all the way.
My favorite fruit is pineapple. My favorite food is Penne.
I’ve been very fortunate in my lifetime and have traveled many places over seas and lived in Australia so I guess for me my dream vacation would be to visit all the major baseball parks in the US. Baseball is my favorite sport and I love the Cubs.
All-Day 4-Yr-Old PreK
I am from South Bend. I am a graduate the Cathedral School of St. Matthew. I have worked at the Pre-k since it opened.
My favorite food is any Chinese food.
Lastly, my dream vacation would be to visit Greece or Ireland.
Music & PE
I am a lifelong resident of South Bend, Indiana and currently reside in Granger with my husband Larry and our son Owen. I am the youngest of seven children. I was born and raised on the west side of South Bend which was rich with Polish Catholic Americans and large families like mine. Growing up, I attended St. Adalbert’s Elementary School, Washington High School and then Indiana University.
I have been teaching in the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend for nineteen years and have been at the Cathedral School since 2011. I currently teach Music and PE and enjoy working with students from all the different grade levels.
In my spare time, I enjoy being with my family and friends. Also, when I have the time, I enjoy playing golf and going on long bike rides , and sitting down and learning a new piece of music.
I have been very blessed in my life and love being a part of the Cathedral School of St Mathew!
I grew up in Elkhart but I now live in South Bend. I graduated from Saint Mary’s College in 2014 with a B.A. in Studio Art and preschool-12 grade certification in Art. I then moved to Ohio to be a member of the Lalanne Service through Teaching Master’s Program at the University of Dayton. In this program I lived and taught high school art in Cleveland while also taking classes at UD. After completing my 2 years of service and my degree I graduated with a Master’s of Science in Education with a focus in teacher leadership and special education in 2016. I then moved back to South Bend to be closer to my family. I am starting my 6th year of teaching and my 4th year at the Cathedral School.
My favorite food is any type of pasta. Right now on the top of my list are Iceland and the Netherlands. I have also always wanted to take a huge road trip around the United States.
Special Education Director
I was born & raised in South Bend, and attended Holy Cross Grade School, St Joseph High School, and IUSB. I received bachelor education and masters in special education from IUSB. I am married and have 3 children and two granddaughters; my son is campus minister at Crespi Carmelite High School in Encino CA. I have a daughter who is a respiratory therapist in Pasadena Ca and a daughter who is an ICU nurse at Memorial in South Bend. My oldest granddaughter is a senior at USC. She gave me a USC grandparent shirt; a little hard to wear in ND territory.
I love chicken and usually eat it at least once a day. I would love to go to Hawaii.
My most memorable time is 2010 when our whole family went on a trip to Italy with Chris’s school group to see The Shroud of Turin. One day I hope to live close enough to all my children so it’s only a day or less drive. That way we can get together for holidays etc.
I was born in Cincinnati, OH. I have one older sister. We moved to Bismark, ND when I was one and I lived there until I was six. Finally, my family moved to the north side of South Bend where I lived until college.
I graduated with a B.S. in Environmental Science from IU Bloomington. While at I.U., I met my wonderful husband. We have been married for 16 years and have 3 children. Starting in fall of 2019, I will have worked at St. Matthews as an aide for 8 years. I enjoy reading and exploring nature with my family.
My favorite food is pumpkin pie with whipped cream.
My dream vacation would be to visit every National Park in the United States and stay at all the lodges.
